About - The Weight of the Sky
I decided to head to Bamburgh one morning for sunrise, although the forecast wasn’t particularly promising and I wasn’t expecting too much from the conditions. Having checked the tides beforehand, I knew it would be high tide, offering the opportunity for some beautiful movement in the water even if the sunrise itself failed to appear.
What unfolded was far more spectacular than any colourful sunrise could have been.
With the entire beach to myself, I stood watching in awe as an incredible sky began to develop above Bamburgh Castle. For around five fleeting minutes, the clouds, light and castle came together in a truly remarkable display before the atmosphere quickly faded away.
Thankfully, those precious few minutes were enough.
With the camera ready, I was able to capture a series of images that preserved one of those rare and unforgettable moments when the landscape delivers something far beyond what you had hoped for.
